Bryden Stanley graduated as a veterinarian in 1982 from Murdoch University, Australia. Following her internship, she completed a surgery residency and Master’s degree at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Dr. Stanley was a faculty surgeon at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland before coming to Michigan State university in 1998. She was a soft tissue surgery professor at MSU and was Section Chief of Surgery before retiring from MSU in 2021. She has now joined the team at Animal Surgical Center of Michigan and is loving it. Although she loves all aspects of soft tissue surgery, Stanley’s clinical research interests are upper respiratory, wound management and cutaneous reconstructive techniques. She publishes frequently, has received many teaching awards and lectures widely at a national and international level. Stanley is an ACVS board-certified surgeon and served a term as Regent of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. In descending order, her family comprises 6 chickens, 4 dogs, 3 children, 2 conures, 1 cat and 1 husband.
Dr. Daniel Degner earned a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. He then practiced veterinary medicine for two years in a small animal practice in Edmonton, Alberta. Thereafter, he completed a small animal internship in medicine and surgery at Colorado State University and a surgical residency at Michigan State University. In 1997, following rigorous examination, he graduated from the American college of Veterinary Surgeons as a diplomate. This college validates the surgeon’s competency in the art and science of soft tissue and orthopedic veterinary surgery.
Dr. DeCamp, a native of Flint, is a former professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Michigan State University and has joined Animal Surgical Center of Michigan. Early in Dr. DeCamp’s post-secondary education, he studied English literature and received his first degree therein. Dr. Pearson graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Iowa State University in 1993 and completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Missouri. She completed a residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Missouri and subsequently was board-certified with the American College of
Dr. Noah Bander earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Albion College followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University. He subsequently completed a Rotating Small Animal Internship in Medicine and Surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. His Residency in Small Animal Surgery was at MedVet Medicine
Dr. Zellner, a native of Michigan, formerly completed his DVM at Michigan State University.  He completed an internship and subsequently completed a Small Animal Surgical Residency at Iowa State University. He remained on faculty at Iowa State University as staff surgeon. His research has included suture patterns for tendon repair, tendon plating repair techniques, sacroiliac luxation repair using minimally invasive surgery, congenital laryngeal paralysis in Huskies and skin biomechanics.  He has joined Animal Surgical Center of Michigan and performs both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Linda Okonkowski earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Hillsdale College followed by her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Michigan State University. Her rotating internship in medicine and surgery was at the Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center. She subsequently completed her Residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine back at her alma mater, Michigan State University in 2020. She has a special interest in gastrointestinal disease, liver diseases, and endocrine disorders. But her favorite part of practicing internal medicine is the relationships built with her patients and their families. Dr. Okonkowski prides herself on being a doctor of honesty and integrity and always treats her patients as if they are her own pet and her clients as if they are her family. In her free time, she loves to swim, spend time with her husband and two Labradors, read, and travel.
Dr. Lisa Degner graduated from Michigan State University in 1994 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She is the practice manager at our hospital. She plays many roles that make our practice run smoothly. She is mother of two children, Autumn and Ethan, and wife of Dr. Dan Degner. They have many pets, most of which are rescues.
Sarah obtained a Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Technology from Michigan State University in 2000. She has worked in several different specialties of veterinary medicine, including Neurology and Neurosurgery, Internal Medicine, Dermatology, and Emergency and Critical Care. Sarah obtained her Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification in Emergency and Critical Care in 2005. Sarah enjoys diagnostic imaging. Sarah has received extensive training in imaging including CT scan and MRI and continues to assist with MRI. Sarah enjoys teaching and helping to advance the care of our patients and train staff. Sarah has one dog, a Boston Terrier/Pug/Beagle mix named Princess Leia. In her spare time she is an avid mountain biker and enjoys trail running.
